Charger Pride: 5 Unforgettable Athletes From Chariho High School
From local fields to national fame, these stars got their start in Charlestown.

Sports run deep in Charlestown, and Chariho High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Chargers uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Chariho High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.
Kelsea Loffredo – All-State Volleyball Libero
A two-time first-team All-State selection, Kelsea Loffredo made her mark at Chariho High School as a standout libero, leading the volleyball team in passing efficiency during her final two seasons. A four-year basketball starter and three-year captain, she was a true multi-sport athlete. After earning a degree in communicative disorders from the University of Rhode Island, she returned to Charlestown and now works as a physical therapy rehab aide. (Source: Chariho Times)
Julia (Moseley) Castillo – Softball Star & Air Force All-Services Tournament Gold Medalist
A member of both the soccer and softball teams at Chariho, Julia Moseley earned second-team All-State and All-Division honors her senior year in softball and helped lead the girls' soccer team to a Division II state title as a freshman. After graduating in 2004, she joined the U.S. Air Force in 2005, where she played softball competitively and won a gold medal in the All-Services tournament. She later earned degrees from Hawaii Pacific University and Walden University and now serves as an office manager for U.S. Customs and Border Protection. (Source: The Westerly Sun)

Kyle Eva – All-State Lineman & College Volleyball Record Holder
Three-sport athlete Kyle Eva earned first-team All-State honors as an offensive lineman during his time at Chariho. He was named Division II Lineman of the Year in 2011 and also stood out in basketball and volleyball. At Johnson & Wales University, he became the all-time leader in blocks on the men's volleyball team. (Source: The Westerly Sun)
Ian LaPlume – Track & Field State Record Holder
A versatile athlete, Ian LaPlume was a multiple-time All-State honoree in cross country and track. He excelled in a wide range of events, including distance races, pole vault, sprints and throws, and played a key role in Chariho’s 2011 state outdoor track championship. He was part of the 4x800 relay team that not only won the state title but also broke the Rhode Island state record at the New Englands. (Source: Chariho Times)

Meghan (Rousseau) Delaporta – All-American Multi-Sport Star
Meghan Rousseau was a three-time first-team All-Division selection in soccer and earned All-State honors in softball her senior year at Chariho. After high school, she played both sports at CCRI, where she was named a first-team NJCAA All-American. She later transferred to URI, earning a degree in Human Development and Family Studies.
