The Narragansett Town Council is Selling Out the Town of Narragansett to Investors at All Costs to Residents

Dr. Alba provides testimony regarding Speaker Joseph Shekarchi's actions on his "build, baby, build" agenda. The Narragansett Town Council is putting forth initiatives to increase housing density and the number of students living in academic rentals at all COSTS to the Town of Narragansett that will result in significant wastewater treatment issues that will most likely result in needed upgrades costing over 100 million dollars, exacerbate our acute water shortage, exacerbate the smell of fecal matter inundating the environment, increase the risk of flooding, and lead to our polluted water supply and the pollution of our oceans. In addition, the peace and quiet in our neighborhoods will be significantly diminished as more and more rentals are added. As investors buy out more and more properties and land, it will continue to push families out of Narragansett. Rather than the Town of Narragansett fighting the dictates of Speaker Joseph Shekarchi's mandates using "Home Rule", as many other cities and towns are fighting back, the Narragansett Town Council is selling the Town of Narragansett out to investors. And Mr. James Durkin, who sits on the Narragansett Town Council, is one of Narragansett's biggest investors, as he is a leader in land and rental home ownership.
