Classic Yacht Parade Returns for the 47th Annual Newport Classic Yacht Regatta, presented by IYRS (rinewstoday.com) — Newport Harbor will host the Classic Yacht Parade on Sunday, September 6, 2026, as part of the 47th Annual Newport Classic Yacht Regatta. Residents can watch a fleet of classic sail and motor yachts circle from Goat Island past downtown wharves, King Park, Ida Lewis Yacht Club, and Fort Adams, with public viewing from waterfront parks and the IYRS campus.

Standoff prompts city to condemn Newport home (wpri.com) — Newport officials have condemned a Dudley Avenue house as unsafe, forcing most residents into temporary hotel housing while serious fire, clutter, and electrical hazards are addressed. The city says the building must revert to single-family use with permitted work and safety upgrades before anyone can return, while the owner vows to challenge the decision in court later this month.
   

3. Newport International Boat Show To Debut All-New Fishing Village Presented By Tashmoo Boatworks Experience at 2026 Event (thefishingwire.com) — Newport residents can look forward to a new Fishing Village attraction at the Newport International Boat Show, running September 17–20 along the downtown waterfront. The expanded area will feature fishing gear exhibitors, free seminars, casting clinics, and family-focused programming like "Take a Kid Fishing," all included with general admission and aimed at everyone from beginners to seasoned local anglers.

DAY TRIPPING to Newport, RI—the 'City by the Sea' (carlislemosquito.org) — If you're planning a day or weekend in Newport, this guide walks you through can't-miss stops, from the Cliff Walk and Gilded Age mansions to Brenton Point, Ocean Drive, and local beaches.
