• Verizon Fiber Work Begins in Portsmouth: What to Know (upriseri.com) — Portsmouth residents will see Verizon crews installing a new underground fiber-optic network across town, backed by federal and state funding and slated for completion by Dec. 31. About 2,198 homes and businesses are targeted for at least 100/100 Mbps service, though exact streets, ordering dates, and prices are still unknown, so households should watch for Dig Safe markings and future town updates. 
• Aquidneck Community Table and Crisis Intervention Teams of R.I. each win $65,000 from the Rhode Island Foundation (whatsupnewp.com) — Portsmouth residents may see better responses to behavioral health crises as Crisis Intervention Teams of R.I. use a $65,000 Rhode Island Foundation grant to train officers in Portsmouth and neighboring towns. Another $65,000 grant will help Aquidneck Community Table expand its Middletown food hub, aiming to increase access to fresh local food and support area producers.
