Car Crashes Into Building, Man Shot: Providence Police

The wounded man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Officers investigating a report of shots fired and a car crashing into a building found a man with a bullet wound, police said.

The officers were sent to Bodell Avenue shortly before 3:30 a.m. Sunday and found a "vehicle that had struck the side of a residential housing building," Kristy dosReis, the chief public information officer for the Providence Department of Public Safety, said in an email.

"The vehicle showed multiple bullet strikes," dosReis said.

"A short time later, officers were dispatched to Cleveland Street, where an adult male was located suffering from a gunshot wound," according to dosReis. "The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital in stable condition."

Detectives are investigating the incident, dosReis said.
