1. Pawtucket Woman Charged With Possession of Fentanyl And DUI: Cops (patch.com) — State police say a Pawtucket woman was stopped on Moulton Lane in Providence and charged with possessing fentanyl and driving under the influence early Thursday morning. She allegedly refused a chemical breath test and was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, then held overnight as a bail violator for arraignment in Sixth Division District Court.
   

2. Providence keeps losing teachers. Now they want to 'grow' their own. (providencejournal.com) — Providence schools are tackling teacher shortages by "growing" their own educators through a district apprenticeship that helps longtime classroom aides earn full certification while staying in local schools. The program, launched with Rhode Island College and other partners, aims to stabilize staffing, increase teacher diversity, and better reflect the city's largely Latino and multilingual student population. One new special education teacher's journey shows how life-changing this pathway can be.
   

3. Spaces: Divine Providence (rimonthly.com) — A long-abandoned church in Providence's Elmwood neighborhood has been transformed into The Noble, a 15-unit apartment complex that preserves stained glass, arches, and historic millwork. Working with the Providence Historic District Commission, developers balanced neighborhood concerns with the need for new housing, turning a once-endangered landmark into active homes and shared community space. The project has already earned multiple Rhode Island design awards.
   

4. RIPTA moves forward with plans for new Providence transit center (browndailyherald.com) — Plans to move Providence's main bus hub from Kennedy Plaza to a new transit center by Providence Station are moving ahead, backed by state and federal funding. Riders, advocates, and city officials are split, with some worried about longer walks and recent service cuts, while others welcome a safer, modern facility and better connections near the train station.
   

5. 'Journey of a lifetime': Mental health advocate reaches RI on walk across U.S. (wpri.com) — A cross-country walker for mental health awareness is reaching Providence on Tuesday as part of his 2,500-mile trek from Florida to Maine. After passing through several Rhode Island towns, he's sharing a recovery story that includes years of sobriety and raising funds for addiction support. Residents may spot him in the city before he continues into Massachusetts.
