Providence Man Pleads Guilty To Fentanyl Trafficking Conspiracy: Feds

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man pleaded guilty to participating in a fentanyl trafficking conspiracy, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Carlos Rodriguez, 32, pleaded to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a media release.

The FBI Safe Streets Task Force was "conducting an investigation into drug trafficking in and around the Providence area and, during the investigation, law enforcement determined that Rodriguez and his co-conspirators were involved in the distribution of fentanyl pills," the release said.

Rodriguez's sentencing was scheduled for Aug. 18. He faces up to 40 years in prison, according to the release.
