• Council takes another shot at short term rental regulations (thewesterlysun.com) — Westerly's Town Council is advancing new short-term rental rules that could sharply limit unhosted Airbnb-style rentals to a coastal village overlay district. Councilors are borrowing language from Newport's tested ordinance while debating how fast to move and how to protect neighborhood housing. With hundreds of local rentals already registered, any changes could significantly affect property owners, renters, and nearby residents.
   

• Westerly boy assists elderly man suffering medical emergency (wpri.com) — An 11-year-old Westerly boy, Tucker Gourlay, helped an elderly man in distress on Cross Street by walking him to Babcock Village, calling for 911, and waiting until first responders arrived. Westerly officers, impressed by his kindness, later surprised him with a new bicycle and gear. Police say the man was treated at the hospital and is now recovering at home.
