• Rhode Island the second state to ban 'scorched-earth' covenants on grocery stores (planetizen.com) — Woonsocket's long struggle with limited grocery options just got a major policy boost, as Rhode Island banned new restrictive "scorched-earth" covenants that have blocked additional supermarkets here. Existing covenants from chains like Walmart and Stop & Shop will remain until they expire, but officials hope the change will eventually open doors for more food shopping choices in the city. 
• Break-in, assault suspect arrested in Woonsocket (wpri.com) — A suspect in a Massachusetts home break-in and assault was arrested in Woonsocket and is now headed to face felony charges across the border. Woonsocket police worked with multiple agencies, including the FBI, to identify and locate the 22-year-old, who will first appear before a Rhode Island judge before extradition to Massachusetts.
• ACLU: RI Flock Camera Portals Missing Key Details (upriseri.com) — Woonsocket is part of a growing network of Flock license plate cameras stretching across Rhode Island, and civil-liberties advocates say the public can't clearly see how that data is shared or audited. The ACLU's new report flags missing transparency portals, opaque out-of-state data sharing that includes Woonsocket, and the lack of a single statewide rule while state officials weigh new standards.
