• Cooling stations open in Spartanburg County: Here's where (wspa.com) — Boiling Springs residents can cool off at the Boiling Springs Fire Department, now serving as a public cooling station during the current heat wave. Several other Spartanburg County fire stations and county offices are also open daily, mostly 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., though hours and locations may change. Officials say stations will close once temperatures return to normal. 
• Man accused of using sword in Upstate burglary asks judge for bond (foxcarolina.com) — A recent court hearing centers on a man accused in a Spartanburg County burglary case that began after he was refused a gun purchase at the Boiling Springs Walmart. Deputies say he later appeared at a nearby flooring business with a sword before being arrested. A judge will decide later whether to grant him bond after hearing from both his defense and the victims.
