• Jury convicts Clinton man in 2025 murder (laurenscountyadvertiser.net) — A Clinton resident has been sentenced to a total of 45 years in prison after a Laurens County jury convicted him of murder and a weapons charge in a 2025 neighborhood shooting. Clinton Police responded to the late-night incident on Florence Street, where an Army veteran neighbor was found shot; prosecutors said the killing followed an argument and rejected the defendant’s self-defense claim.
   

• District: Two Upstate school buses drained of gasoline in series of statewide thefts (foxcarolina.com) — Gasoline thieves have struck Laurens County School District 56, drilling holes in two activity bus fuel tanks and draining them, and the Clinton Police Department is now investigating. The incident is part of a wider series of school bus gas thefts across several Upstate counties, prompting tighter security as state education officials and law enforcement work to identify those responsible.
   

• Joanna Hornets at home in 2nd season vs. Flying Monkeys (laurenscountyadvertiser.net) — Local baseball fans may recognize several former Clinton High standouts now starring for the Joanna Hornets, who opened their 2026 home slate with a 9–2 win at Presbyterian College’s Elton Pollock Field. With Joanna’s historic stadium under renovation and more Blue Ridge League expansion expected, the summer team is giving area college players meaningful reps and nearby communities, including Clinton, another reason to gather at the ballpark.
