Second suspect captured after Conway police search (wpde.com) ā Conway Police say the second suspect who ran from a vehicle during a downtown traffic stop has now been captured, ending a search near Oak Street and Mill Pond Road. Officers first tried to stop the car Tuesday morning, quickly catching one person before the second fled. Authorities havenāt yet released details about the suspects or potential charges.

University Boulevard reopens after $7.4M project (wbtw.com) ā University Boulevard at Coastal Carolina University in Conway has reopened after a $7.4 million upgrade that reroutes traffic, adds lanes, and improves sidewalks and crosswalks along the Highway 544 corridor. The new fourālane configuration and signal are meant to ease congestion and boost safety for students, workers, visitors, and nearby Conway drivers ahead of the fall semester.

Conway neighbor's petition against 372-unit development tops 2,000 signatures (wmbfnews.com) ā A proposed 372āunit development along Highway 905 in Conway has sparked a petition with more than 2,000 signatures from neighbors worried about worsening flooding and changing the areaās rural character. Residents describe repeated flood issues and fear added runoff, while the rezoning request from forest and agriculture to multiāresidential has twice been deferred by the Horry County Planning Commission and will return at a future meeting.

4. SC technical college fires professor who went public about grade inflation (schoolinfosystem.org) ā A Conwayābased technical college is under scrutiny after more than 80 student grades were allegedly changed without professorsā consent, triggering a state investigation. One professor who questioned the changes says she was later fired, while the college insists it follows policy and doesnāt retaliate, leaving Conway students and faculty watching closely for what happens next.

Announcing the 2026-2027 Teaching & Learning Pluralism Cohort Grantees (interfaithamerica.org) ā Coastal Carolina University in Conway has been selected for a national Teaching & Learning Pluralism grant cohort, bringing up to $10,000 to support faculty development around pluralism. Over the 2026ā27 academic year, CCUās teaching center will design workshops and programs to help professors foster respectful, crossādifference dialogue in Conway classrooms.
