Coast RTA announces new routes connecting Conway to Myrtle Beach airport (wmbfnews.com) — Bus riders in Conway now have a more direct connection to Myrtle Beach International Airport thanks to Coast RTA’s updated Route 7 and system-wide schedule changes. New buses, hourly “pulse” transfers in Myrtle Beach, and safer stop locations aim to shorten waits, improve job access, and reduce dangerous highway crossings for Horry County travelers. 
2. Conway named finalist for prestigious All-America City Award (wpde.com) — Conway is being recognized nationally as one of 20 finalists for the All-America City Award, highlighting its civic engagement, flood-resilience projects, and “Holiday Capital” celebrations. City leaders say the honor validates years of work on youth programs, stormwater improvements, and community events, and they’ll present Conway’s story to judges in Denver before winners are announced June 28.
3. Committee approves resolution for first phase expansion of J. Reuben Long Detention Center (wbtw.com) — Horry County leaders meeting in Conway have advanced a $130 million first-phase expansion of J. Reuben Long Detention Center, adding a new tower, 574 beds, and dedicated mental health space, with county taxpayers footing the entire bill. At the same time, the police department is undergoing a full management review and new supervisor training after recent misconduct cases, which could shape future public safety in and around Conway.
4. Conway man arrested after $11K Amazon laptop order scam (wpde.com) — Horry County authorities say a Conway man was arrested after police intercepted more than $11,000 in laptops allegedly ordered through a victim’s compromised Amazon account and redirected to a Walgreens in Conway. Deputies waited at the store for the pickup, then questioned and detained the suspect, who now faces a financial identity fraud charge.
5. Coastal Carolina names Chris Lemonis as head baseball coach (wmbfnews.com) — Coastal Carolina University in Conway has hired national championship-winning coach Chris Lemonis as its new head baseball coach, succeeding Kevin Schnall. A Myrtle Beach native with extensive NCAA and College World Series experience, Lemonis is being welcomed home by CCU leaders who say he understands the community and the importance of Chanticleer baseball to local fans and the region.
