• Fort Mill Schools Earn 13 Gold, 4 Silver Palmetto Awards in Statewide Recognition Program (tegacaysun.com) — Fort Mill School District just earned major statewide recognition, with 17 schools receiving Palmetto Gold or Silver awards for academic excellence. All three traditional high schools, plus numerous middle and elementary schools, brought home top honors. The results highlight strong achievement, graduation rates, and college and career readiness across Fort Mill’s campuses compared with districts statewide.
   

• One of Fort Mill's three high schools is looking for its next new principal (heraldonline.com) — Catawba Ridge High School, Fort Mill’s newest high school, is losing principal Barry Ledford as he departs this summer to lead J.L. Mann High in Greenville. The Fort Mill School District says the search for his replacement will begin soon, though no timeline is set yet. Families can expect leadership changes after this school year ends.
   

• SC lawmakers files legislation to prevent Fort Mill students from having to do virtual learning on Saturdays (qcnews.com) — Fort Mill families could see Saturday virtual learning days scrapped as a York County lawmaker pushes a special resolution to waive two missed days for Flint Hill Elementary after March’s chemical leaks. The Fort Mill School Board had approved April 25 and May 2 eLearning Saturdays, but district leaders and parents now hope state lawmakers move fast enough to protect family time and still meet the 180-day requirement.
