• DeLong retiring from Hartsville United Way (newsandpress.net) — Hartsville residents will soon say goodbye to Joann DeLong, who is retiring July 31 after 13 years leading the United Way of Greater Hartsville and expanding its impact across Darlington County. Under her guidance, the group grew from a tiny office into a downtown Hartsville hub running 12 in‑office programs that directly help local families. Neighbors are encouraged to thank her for her years of service.
   

• Hartsville Senior Center garden flourishes (newsandpress.net) — At Hartsville’s Butler Senior Center on South 6th Street, local women are nurturing a flourishing raised‑bed garden packed with vegetables and flowers. Their annual project brings seniors together for exercise, fellowship, and fresh produce while showcasing the historic Butler campus. The Center also offers transportation, health fairs, and other programs to keep Hartsville’s older adults active and connected.
