Elkton man arrested for sexual contact without consent in Brookings (dakotanewsnow.com) — A Brookings County investigation led to the arrest of a 37-year-old Elkton man after a woman reported being inappropriately touched while speaking with a neighbor in Brookings. Deputies say the suspect was booked into the Brookings County Detention Center and later transferred on an outstanding warrant, with a court appearance scheduled for July 6, 2026.
   

2. Sioux Falls man charged after high speed pursuit in Brookings County on Monday (drgnews.com) — A late-night high-speed chase through Brookings County ended with deputies arresting a 25-year-old Sioux Falls man near SDSU after radar clocked his car at more than 140 mph. He now faces multiple traffic, drug and weapons charges and is being held at the Brookings County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond, with another court date set for June 15.
   

3. Eighteen SDSU Undergrads Awarded College Research Grants (brookingsradio.com) — SDSU in Brookings has awarded research grants to 18 undergraduates, supporting projects that range from bison health and dairy technology to fisheries and crop science. These grants give students hands-on experience in labs, farms and field sites, strengthening SDSU’s role as a research hub that shapes South Dakota agriculture, wildlife management and environmental stewardship.
   

4. SDSU Joins MIT as Theme Winner at NASA Contest (brookingsradio.com) — SDSU engineering students based in Brookings just beat out major universities to win their category at a prestigious NASA RASC-AL competition. The young team, which includes a Brookings student as drilling lead, impressed judges with a realistic lunar drilling and sample-return concept that showcased hands-on design, problem-solving and a working prototype tested at Kennedy Space Center.
