Highway 244 for Mount Rushmore Fireworks Event (drgnews.com) — Expect major traffic impacts around Keystone as U.S. Highway 16A and S.D. Highway 244 partially close from late July 2 through July 3, 2026, for the Freedom 250 fireworks event at Mount Rushmore. Access to Iron Mountain Road and Highway 244 from Keystone will be blocked, so residents should plan alternate routes and travel times. 
• The USAF Academy Band presents 'Freedom 250' (arkvalleyvoice.com) — Free USAF Academy Band “Freedom 250” concerts are coming to Mount Rushmore in Keystone on July 3 and 4 at 6 p.m., with no tickets required. Residents can bring chairs or blankets and enjoy a patriotic, family-friendly mix of jazz, pop, country, film music, and classics celebrating America’s 250th birthday.
