📰 News we're reading

1. Summer Scholars Program up and running (kornradio.com) — Mitchell families now have the Summer Scholars program in full swing, blending morning academic enrichment with afternoon recreation for Begindergarten through 4th grade students. Superintendent Joe Childs says kids are smiling, teachers are engaged, and logistics are smoothing out as parents and grandparents adjust to drop-off routines. Details and sign-up information are available on the Mitchell School District website.

2. Mitchell High School tech camp lifting curtain on future education, careers for students (mitchellrepublic.com) — Mitchell families with tech-curious kids can tap into a free weeklong Tech Camp at Mitchell High School, where middle schoolers explore coding, robotics, photography and more. Backed by the Mitchell School District, Chamber of Commerce and local firms like Tech Solutions, the program also introduces students to Mitchell Technical College and area employers, building skills that could lead them into future local tech careers.

3. Mitchell's cloudy tap water safe to drink, city officials say (mitchellrepublic.com) — If you’ve noticed cloudy water coming from your tap in Mitchell, city officials say it’s still safe to drink. The haze is caused by extra oxygen introduced after a recent B-Y waterline break repair and should clear if the water sits briefly in a glass. The city expects the issue to resolve on its own within a few days.

4. Mitchell Technical College is ramping up for the fall semester (kornradio.com) — Mitchell Technical College is buzzing behind the scenes as fall registration brings about 1,800 students and families to campus and fills most programs, with room still available for undecided locals. Two big projects—a remodeled amphitheater already in use and a new underground utilities lab finishing by late July—will greet students when fall classes begin August 24.
