1. Box Elder woman sentenced to 11+ years in Federal Prison for Conspiring to Distribute Methamphetamine in Rapid City (drgnews.com) — A Box Elder woman has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for helping traffic large quantities of meth into the Rapid City area over several years. Investigators say she helped move at least 10 pounds of meth into the state, with over eight pounds seized. Rapid City Police and Pennington County officers worked with federal agencies on the case.

2. Rapid City Airport Breaks Records as Expansion Moves Ahead (newscenter1.tv) — Rapid City Regional Airport is seeing record first-quarter passenger numbers, and more growth is expected this summer as terminal expansion and TSA relocation continue. Construction is tightening space and may cause temporary hassles, including remote aircraft parking, so travelers are urged to arrive early and use airline apps to check in. Airport leaders say these are growing pains of a rapidly expanding community.

3. Rapid City stepping up graffiti removal on parks, businesses and utility boxes (kotatv.com) — Rapid City is ramping up graffiti cleanup this spring and wants residents to report tags on parks, businesses, utility boxes, and other property so crews can remove them within 24 hours when possible. Depending on the location, cleanup will be handled by city departments, the IGNITE team, or utilities, while private properties go through Code Enforcement. You can submit reports through the Public Works “Report a Problem” webpage.

4. Indigenous matriarchs rising in leadership and community care (nativesunnews.today) — Rapid City residents recently gathered at the Oyate Health Center to hear Lily Mendoza share how Indigenous matriarchs sustain families, culture, and community health. Mendoza, a longtime Rapid resident and founder of the Rapid City–based Red Ribbon Skirt Society, highlighted women’s leadership in addressing trauma, environmental stewardship, and support for families of missing and murdered Indigenous women.

5. South Dakota joins lawsuit accusing financial firm of ‘bait and switch' loan schemes (kbhbradio.com) — South Dakota has joined 12 other states in suing OneMain Financial, which operates a branch in Rapid City, over allegations it misled borrowers with costly add-on products hidden in personal loans. State Attorney General Marty Jackley says consumers may have paid for unnecessary insurance and extras, while the company strongly denies any wrongdoing and vows to fight the case in federal court.
