• GFP closes seasons, hopes deer population climbs (keloland.com) — Deer hunters in Yankton County will see apprentice, mentored, and youth seasons closed as state wildlife officials try to rebuild a struggling southeastern South Dakota deer herd. A Yankton-based commissioner says local hunters largely support the move, which aims to boost doe numbers and could raise the population by 50% within two years.
