• Algood Council Begins Build Of Next Fiscal Year Budget (theucnow.com) — Algood leaders are shaping next year’s city budget, weighing nearly $6 million in spending, including major investments in Main Street water lines, a new city park, and automated meters. Property tax rates aren’t set yet, but officials say using reserves carefully will fund upgrades while keeping the city’s finances stable.
   

• Mayor Porter: 10 critical buildings to stay powered when disaster strikes (ucbjournal.com) — Algood’s Community Center and City Hall are slated to get new FEMA-funded backup generators as part of a countywide effort to keep key buildings powered during disasters. Putnam County will use an $883,000 hazard mitigation grant to equip 10 critical facilities, helping ensure shelters, services, and emergency response can keep running through future storms and outages.
