The city and former airport board argue a new state law shifts control of Chattanooga's airport to state appointees, echoing a similar legal fight in Nashville over how federal aviation rules apply.
   

2. UPDATE: UTC to move Little Miss Mag operations to Brown and Battle Academies (local3news.com) — Families using Little Miss Mag in downtown Chattanooga will see the center close as UTC shifts operations to its expanded early learning sites at Brown and Battle Academies, while promising no enrolled child will lose a spot. The university hasn't given a consolidation date yet, but says it will guide parents through placements and timelines as part of a broader response to earlier Siskin-related closures.
   

3. Chattanooga police seek AI-enabled camera tools (timesfreepress.com) — Chattanooga's City Council will vote Tuesday on a five-year, $13 million package for police technology, including AI-enabled tools, more Tasers, and additional body and in-car cameras. The plan would also add 36 Axon license plate reader cameras with advanced search features, raising unresolved questions about exactly which AI functions officers will use and how privacy concerns will be addressed.

What's Right With Our Schools: Backpack Chattanooga (wdef.com) — A Chattanooga nonprofit has just packed 12,000 backpacks with school supplies to help local students start the year prepared, but nearly all of them are already spoken for. Working with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, volunteers shared how receiving a backpack once inspired them to give back, and organizers say they'll likely need even more donations as schools begin calling for extra supplies.
   

5. Global firm sues Bradley County to build 300-acre data center (timesfreepress.com) — A major legal fight over a proposed 300-acre data center in nearby Bradley County could shape how large computing facilities develop around the Chattanooga region. A London-based firm is suing the county, arguing new zoning rules effectively ban data centers after residents pushed back. County leaders say defending the regulations will be costly but necessary to reflect community concerns.
