• Tennessee utility company warns customers of phone scam (wsmv.com) — Columbia Power & Water Systems is warning local customers about sophisticated scam calls that use real account details and cloned CPWS recordings to demand bill payments. Residents are urged to hang up immediately on suspicious callers and instead dial CPWS directly at 931-388-4833 to verify their account and avoid potential financial loss. 
• Middle TN hemp business to close and relocate out-of-state due to new state regulations taking effect in summer 2026 (wsmv.com) — A Columbia hemp retailer, Burning Acre, will close its local shop on June 30 and move operations to Murphy, North Carolina, citing sharply higher costs under new state hemp regulations taking effect July 1. Owners say licensing, bonding, and testing fees would jump from hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars, forcing them to abandon planned Columbia expansions.
