📰 News we're reading

1. Rising costs, festival fatigue, heat factored into Pilgrimage's April move (tennessean.com subscription) — Franklin's Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival will return in April 2027 instead of its traditional late-September dates, aiming to avoid football conflicts, festival fatigue, and extreme heat. Organizers and experts explain how soaring talent costs and financial risk drove the hiatus, while Visit Franklin data highlight the festival's multimillion-dollar economic impact on local hotels, restaurants, and businesses.

2. This Free Tennessee Pumpkin Festival Takes Over A Historic Downtown Every October (takingthekids.com) — Franklin's beloved PumpkinFest will expand to two days in 2026, filling downtown's historic Main Street with free family-friendly fun, live music, and more than 140 craft booths. Locals can enjoy costume contests, a KidZone, pumpkin carving, and plenty of fall food while exploring the shops and architecture. Plan ahead for parking and consider using Franklin Transit's $1 Park and Ride shuttle from Harlinsdale Farm.

3. Roaches, mouse droppings, unwashed hands in latest Nashville, Nolensville restaurant inspections (tennessean.com subscription) — Health inspectors recently cited several Franklin and Nolensville restaurants for serious food-safety violations, including roaches, mouse droppings, dirty equipment, and unsafe food temperatures. While some establishments improved on follow-up, the report details suspended permits, discarded food, and repeated handwashing and sanitation problems that Franklin diners may want to review before choosing where to eat.

4. MY HERO: Chuck Isaacs - One Headstone at a Time, He Keeps Their Stories Alive (newschannel5.com) — A Franklin retiree is quietly restoring neglected headstones in local cemeteries, turning a personal mission into a nonprofit that preserves the stories of those buried there. His volunteer work, recently honored with a charitable donation, shows how one Franklin resident is protecting local history and dignity in a very hands-on way. You can even nominate your own local hero for recognition.

5. Nicole Sibol named inaugural Vice President and Chief Pediatric Enterprise Strategy Officer (vumc.org) — A Franklin resident, Nicole Sibol, has been named the first Vice President and Chief Pediatric Enterprise Strategy Officer for Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, starting Nov. 1. With extensive experience in health system strategy and growth, she'll help shape long-term pediatric services that many Franklin families rely on, while settling into local life with her family.
