Think of Elf on the Shelf. Our kids behave during the Holiday season wanting to impress the Elf on the Shelf and hoping for gifts from Santa because they are being good. Well, me, personally, I'd much rather have my children behave, all year long!
Character isn't just a seasonal thing, it's something that builds your being every single day. Making good choices. Making good choices like it's a habit. Making good choices even when there is nobody else watching. Making good choices because you know it's the right thing to do kind of thing.
At first I wanted to write a children's book about your Pocket Pal and instead I'm doing individual blogs and I'm starting off with our character Do'er Duck because teaching our children perseverance seems to be the most difficult one. As parents and adults, it's always a desire to have your children be role models and good citizens. But, how do we teach them these things? Kids relate to our characters and it makes your journey as a parent or an educator, grandparent and such much easier as children internalize these characters and understand these traits and want to be like their favorite character!
