The 5K and 2‑mile walk bring together local physicians, first responders, and families, highlighting how firearm violence affects Nashville's children and communities while encouraging residents to get involved in creating safer streets.
   

2. Cumulus Radio Lays Off 92Q Morning Show Host Kenny Smoov (tntribune.com) — Nashville listeners are seeing big changes at R&B station 92Q, where longtime morning host Kenny Smoov and two 615 Wake Up co-hosts were laid off amid Cumulus Media's nationwide cuts. Smoov, a fixture in the city's Black culture scene, marked his final show with visits from Mayor Freddie O'Connell and other Davidson County officials.
   

3. Titans' Jeffery Simmons pledges $1,980 per sack to help single parents find stable housing (newschannel5.com) — Single parents in Nashville could see new paths to homeownership thanks to Titans star Jeffery Simmons, who's pledging $1,980 for every sack this season to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville. His 'Sacks for Forever Homes' campaign invites fans to donate too, supporting affordable, stable housing for single-parent families across the five-county region.
   

4. Memphis man killed by stray bullet while working at Nashville-area Sam's Club (wsmv.com) — Nashville authorities are investigating after 55-year-old Paris Carlock, a Memphis man stocking shelves at a local Sam's Club, was killed by a stray bullet that pierced the store's wall from a nearby nightclub shooting. Homicide detectives are asking anyone in the Nashville area with information about the early Sunday gunfire to come forward.
   

5. Nashville International Airport to hold Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony on Friday (fox17.com) — Nashville International Airport will host its annual Sept. 11 Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, inviting the local community to honor the 2,977 lives lost. The program includes remarks from airport and TSA leaders, musical tributes, and a special "Memorial Blue" lighting of the terminal garages as part of the national Tribute in Lights.
