ā¢ A supermajority fractured: Rural Republicans break ranks as Tennessee passes school voucher expansion (heartlandsignal.com) ā Parents at Claiborne High School in New Tazewell recently told a state lawmaker they had to raise money just to buy toilet paper for the middle school, even as Tennessee lawmakers voted to expand private school vouchers. A growing group of mostly rural Republicans joined Democrats in opposing the bill, arguing it diverts funds and adds new requirements tied to studentsā Social Security numbers.
