Juneteenth celebration coming up June 20 (parispi.net) — Paris churches are teaming up for a Juneteenth celebration at Eiffel Tower Park on June 20, with music, food, games, and awards honoring local Black leaders. A special presentation will recognize 103-year-old Alice Williams at her Jones Bend Road home on June 18, highlighting the theme of “Freedom, Unity, Culture” for the whole community.
   

2. Construction To Begin On Eiffel Tower Trout Pond Trail Project (radionwtn.com) — Construction starts June 17 on a major upgrade to the Trout Pond area at Eiffel Tower Park Extended in Paris, bringing an ADA-accessible loop trail, new pier, expanded pond, and wetland habitat. Expect the pond, its driveway and parking, and three disc golf holes to be closed through late 2026 while crews work to improve access, safety, and wildlife viewing for all ages.

Claxton, Ryan Arraigned Today On Murder, Conspiracy Charges (radionwtn.com) — Residents in Paris are following a grim local case as two men, including the victim’s husband, were arraigned in Henry County on murder and conspiracy charges in the stabbing death of Angela Claxton. Both are jailed without bond, and investigators describe security footage, a confession, and upcoming court dates that will shape how this high-profile case proceeds.
   

4. Planning Commission Recommends City Approve Temporary Moratorium On Data Centers (radionwtn.com) — Paris officials are moving toward a temporary moratorium on new data centers, with the Planning Commission recommending the City Commission pause projects while guidelines are developed. The busy meeting also advanced new Emerald Chase subdivision lots, delayed The Flats of Paris project, weighed rezoning and alley requests, and approved a special use permit for Lighthouse Church on Lakeway Circle.
   

5. Family Resource Center readies for Back-to-School Bash (parispi.net) — Henry County’s Family Resource Center is gearing up for its July 18 Back-to-School Bash at the county fairgrounds, offering free backpacks and supplies to students, including those in the Paris Special School District. A new anonymous $50,000 donation and expanded backpack support from Tennessee Valley Community Church mean more local kids will start school with what they need, alongside ongoing help for struggling families.
