• Roaches, dirty equipment found at Arlington restaurants; 2 closed (star-telegram.com) — Health inspectors recently closed two Arlington restaurants and failed three others after finding issues like roach infestations, unsafe food storage, and dirty equipment between August 9 and 15. Several well-known spots along Cooper Street and Pioneer Parkway now face follow-up inspections, giving diners important insight into current food safety conditions around town.
   

• BigXthaPlug Arrested on DWI and Firearm Charges (hiphophotness.com) — Arlington appears in the rapper BigXthaPlug's legal history, with a 2025 marijuana possession charge there that was later dismissed, now followed by new DWI, marijuana, and firearm charges in Collin County. The Dallas artist also previously faced similar charges in Dallas and is dealing with the recent loss of fellow rapper ZeeTheWizard.
   

• Angels starter Ryan Johnson, relievers shut out Rangers on 1-hitter (statenews.net) — A tough night for Rangers fans in Arlington saw Angels starter Ryan Johnson and two relievers combine on a one-hitter in a 3-0 loss at Globe Life Field. Cody Freeman had Texas' only hit, while Mike Trout and Zach Neto powered Los Angeles' offense to even the series.
