TxDOT will route heavy trucks via signed detours using US 183 and US 283, and local motorists are urged to follow detour signs, plan extra travel time, and consider alternate routes while crews complete this safety-focused maintenance.

• Community celebrates courthouse centennial, unveils Travis letter plaque (breckenridgeamerican.com) — Stephens County just marked 100 years of its historic courthouse with a community celebration in downtown Breckenridge, capped by the Breckenridge High School band playing “Texas, Our Texas.” Local leaders reflected on the courthouse’s past, civil rights progress, and the unveiling of a heavy bronze plaque featuring William Barret Travis’ famous “Victory or Death” Alamo letter.
