Game wardens rescue man who fell out of kayak, Water Improvement District directors told at board meeting (brownwoodnews.com) — Brown County Water Improvement District directors heard how game wardens recently rescued a kayaker clinging to a bridge pillar on Lake Brownwood, just weeks after a Memorial Day drowning at Sandy Beach. Officials also detailed a costly truck crash at the dam gate, an assault at Flat Rock, and other criminal mischief around the lake.

Water Improvement District directors OK purchase of new bodycams for Lake Patrol (brownwoodnews.com) — Brown County Water Improvement District directors have approved spending over $46,000 on new Axon body cameras for Lake Patrol officers and granted a permit for this year’s Fourth of July fireworks show near the dam, which should be visible from town. Leaders also reported Lake Brownwood is about 3.6 feet below the spillway, discussed long-term groundwater protection, and noted ongoing design work for expanding the water plant.
