• New ‘no parking' zones established in Creekfall subdivision (dailytrib.com) — If you live in or drive through Burnet’s Creekfall Phase 3 subdivision, be aware that several streets now have new no-parking zones and a $200 fine for violations. City officials say the narrower 27-foot streets could block traffic and emergency vehicles if cars line both sides. The restrictions target specific sides of Big Sugar, Gristmill, Wheel Horse, Prairie Dew, Desert, Bridle, and Hayburner roads. 
• Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge expands by 293 acres in Burnet County (dailytrib.com) — A major wildlife refuge just added 293 acres in Burnet County, expanding protected habitat right in the Highland Lakes’ backyard. The new tract near RR 1431 by Marble Falls strengthens conservation for the endangered golden-cheeked warbler and other local wildlife, even though this particular parcel isn’t yet open to the public. Residents can still enjoy miles of trails and programs elsewhere in the refuge.
