• Texas awards $750M to teachers through incentive program (crossroadstoday.com) — Teachers in Columbus ISD are among those benefiting from Texas’ $750 million Teacher Incentive Allotment awards, which fund raises based on student growth and classroom performance. The program, now totaling $1.8 billion since 2019, rewards highly effective teachers and supports local districts across Region 3, including several neighboring communities.
   

• THSCA names All-Academic baseball and softball teams (bannerpresspaper.com) — Columbus High baseball and softball players earned Academic All-State recognition from the Texas High School Coaches Association, spotlighting their work in the classroom as well as on the field. Several Cardinals made second team or honorable mention, putting local students alongside top performers from nearby Brazos, Fayetteville, La Grange, Sealy and Bellville.
   

• Police pursuit ends in a swarm (bannerpresspaper.com) — A Fayette County traffic stop near Flatonia turned into a chase that ended when the suspect’s vehicle hit trees and disturbed a swarm of bees, stinging responding officers. The driver was taken to Columbus Community Hospital, then flown to a Houston medical center for injuries, while local law enforcement and EMS from Flatonia and Fayette County assisted at the scene.
