• Flock camera hit leads to arrests in string of Conroe catalytic converter thefts (kwtx.com) — Conroe police used a Flock license plate camera hit to quickly track a suspect vehicle and arrest three Houston-area people accused of stealing catalytic converters at several local apartment complexes. Officers recovered tools, multiple stolen converters, and a handgun, and investigators believe the group may be linked to additional thefts around Montgomery County. 
• This founder is making cheaper, cleaner steel (technologyreview.com) — A climate-focused startup, Hertha Metals, is running a pilot plant in Conroe that produces cleaner, cheaper steel by replacing coal with natural gas and simplifying the furnace process. Founder Laureen Meroueh says the technology can cut emissions at least in half and reduce costs by about 25%, potentially positioning Conroe as a quiet hub in a major industrial shift.
