Conroe ISD reviews preliminary budget, compensation plan at special meeting (communityimpact.com) — Conroe ISD leaders just reviewed a nearly $770 million preliminary budget, including a proposed $0.9496 property tax rate, ahead of an Aug. 18 adoption vote. The plan keeps the 2026–27 budget balanced, shifts employee health coverage to TRS ActiveCare, opens three new campuses, but offers no districtwide raises this year as trustees continue debating how to keep salaries competitive.

Timber Mill High School to open in 2027 with freshmen, sophomores and juniors (houstonchronicle.com) — Families in Conroe ISD should prepare for Timber Mill High School to open in August 2027 in north Conroe with only freshmen through juniors, easing crowding at Conroe and Caney Creek high schools. The Stallions-branded campus, part of a voter-approved bond, will reshape attendance zones, feeder patterns, and transfer options for students across north and northeast Conroe.

MCN's 'Veteran of the Week' - George Walters, U.S. Army 1972-1974 (montgomerycountynews.net) — A longtime Army veteran and National Guard officer, George “Thumper” Walters now lives in Round Rock but still connects with fellow service members through veteran group meetings at Lone Star Honor Flight “105” in Conroe. His story traces a unique Army journey from tile-laying in basic training to secret communications work in Europe and later a civilian career in Texas development and family life.
