Staff receiving 3% raises will get an extra $500, teachers a $1,000 retention stipend, and schools will see LED lighting retrofits and one-time maintenance projects aimed at long-term savings and easing next year’s budget. 
• Registration continues for Governor's Small Business Summit in Copperas Cove (coveleaderpress.com) — Copperas Cove will host the Governor’s Small Business Summit on Thursday, July 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Copperas Cove Civic Center. • Central Texas high schoolers score higher on STAAR Test in 2026, officials credit cell phone ban for higher scores (kwtx.com) — High school STAAR scores are up statewide and across Central Texas, with Copperas Cove ISD seeing more students meet grade level in every subject, especially Biology and English II. State officials partly credit Texas’ new classroom cell phone ban, while education leaders say the gains show hard work paying off but stress there’s still a long way to go for all students.
