Dallas Police Department Addresses Incident With Egypt Soccer Staff Member

The Dallas Police Department addressed an incident between one of its officers and personnel of the Egypt national soccer team.

The department posted a statement to social media on Friday afternoon.

"We are aware of the video circulating on social media regarding an officer and interactions with members from a soccer team," the post states.

The team is in town to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to Reuters, the incident occurred when the director of the Egypt national team and a player attempted to take a photo with a fan at the team hotel.

It continues, "The Dallas Police Department responded to an area hotel at the request of hotel security regarding an individual without event credentials attempting to gain access."

The post states that officers learned the individuals weren't displaying credentials properly which is a requirement.

Ultimately, the situation was resolved on scene, and DPD met with representatives of the team to address its concerns. The department considers the matter resolved.

On Friday, the Egypt national team defeated the Australian team to go onto the next round, which is the farthest it has ever reached in the tournament. The reward is a matchup with heavyweight Argentina.
