• Samuell Farm's Potential Archery Range (thebeatdfw.com) — Mesquite could gain a new public archery range at Samuell Farm, now in the planning and design phase thanks to a federally backed Texas Parks and Wildlife grant. The city and Dallas County are using outside funding to map out facilities, programming, and long-term goals, potentially turning the park into a stronger hub for archery instruction and outdoor recreation for local residents.
   

• ‘Relish … the presence of God,' Turner urges in 2026 convention sermon • Biblical Recorder (brnow.org) — A Mesquite pastor, Caleb Turner of Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church, delivered the convention sermon at this year’s Southern Baptist Convention meeting in Orlando, urging attendees to rely on God’s presence, power, and obedience. His message wove Moses’ story, his own call to ministry, and his family’s history from slavery to denominational leadership into a challenge for Southern Baptists to stay unified and faithful to Scripture.
   

• Yvonda G. Browne (brownwoodnews.com) — Mesquite residents are mourning the passing of 66-year-old Yvonda G. Browne, who died here on June 4 and will have services announced soon. Born in Stephenville, she built a long career with Valero and was known for her cooking, love of card games, and close-knit extended family across Texas.
