IKEA Opens First Dallas City-Limits Store Wednesday

The collective, almost spiritual pilgrimage to Frisco or Grand Prairie for a BJÖRKSTA and a plate of Swedish meatballs ends this week. IKEA opens its first store inside Dallas city limits on Wednesday, March 11, at The Shops at Park Lane — a smaller-format outpost that trades the brand's trademark warehouse sprawl for a tighter, two-level, 63,000-square-foot edit directly across US-75 from NorthPark Center. "We're excited to celebrate the grand opening of IKEA Dallas–University Park and share the IKEA experience with members of the Dallas community," IKEA U.S. Market Manager Ben Sandoval said in the company's announcement.

The store carries roughly 3,200 products available for same-day takeaway, with the full catalog accessible via delivery or free store pickup. But there is no self-serve furniture warehouse on-site. Grand opening festivities kick off at 8 a.m. with giveaways, coffee, and cinnamon buns; doors open to the public at 10. "IKEA will be a gamechanger for our project, and we feel fortunate that IKEA chose The Shops at Park Lane to plant its flag in core Dallas," said Ward Kampf, president of Northwood Retail, which owns and operates the center.

The Dallas location is the eighth IKEA in Texas and the first of three new stores the retailer plans to open statewide in 2026, with Rockwall and Webster locations expected later this year.

The store is DART-accessible, with free parking, and will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
