Blanco announces $25.7 million for Rick Francis Rail Grade Separation Project (kvia.com) — El Paso drivers, patients, and healthcare workers can expect safer, less congested trips near the Medical Center of the Americas thanks to a new $25.7 million investment in the Rick Francis Street rail grade separation project. Funded largely by federal dollars through a new state program, the project will remove a dangerous at-grade crossing and improve access to TTUHSC El Paso and nearby medical and research facilities. 
2. City, El Paso fire union reach tentative agreement (ktsm.com) — After months of tense negotiations, the City of El Paso and the firefighters union have reached a tentative four-year collective bargaining agreement that sets future pay, benefits, and incentives. The deal still needs approval from union members and City Council, but it could significantly affect the city budget and the fire department's staffing and compensation in coming years.
3. El Paso man indicted; accused of trying to run over a bike cop during traffic stop (kfoxtv.com) — An El Paso man has been indicted after allegedly trying to run over a bicycle officer during an April traffic stop near the El Paso Convention Center on West San Antonio Avenue. Prosecutors charged 31-year-old Jacob Wayne Williams with aggravated assault on a public servant and two counts of evading arrest, after police say he fled onto a sidewalk, ran a stop sign, and later abandoned his vehicle.
4. Developing: One person airlifted to hospital after Northeast El Paso crash (cbs4local.com) — One person was airlifted in critical, life-threatening condition after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night at McCombs and Dyer in Northeast El Paso, according to the fire department. The FireSTAR response sent the victim to a local hospital, and no additional injuries were immediately reported as officials continue investigating this serious neighborhood collision.
5. El Paso Pro Musica 2026-2027 Season is Here (ktep.org) — El Paso classical music fans can look forward to a full 2026–2027 season from El Paso Pro Musica, led by Grammy-winning cellist and longtime artistic director Zuill Bailey. In a KTEP interview, Bailey reflects on his 25 years in El Paso, the organization's impact on the community, and how his dual role at UTEP helps grow local arts opportunities.
