El Paso Homeowners Facing Higher Property Taxes Next Year After Recent Tax Rate Announcements (elpasoheraldpost.com) — If you own a home in El Paso, expect your property tax bill to climb by roughly $172 next year based on recent rate decisions by the city, county, UMC and EPCC. Rising valuations mean higher bills even where "no-new-revenue" rates were adopted, and school district rates for EPISD, Canutillo, Socorro and Ysleta could push totals higher once voters and trustees finalize them.
   

2. Long-delayed Pellicano Drive work nears milestone, but hurdles remain before completion (elpasomatters.org) — Drivers in far East El Paso are finally seeing smoother trips on Pellicano Drive as westbound lanes between Aircoupe Way and Joe Battle Boulevard near completion after years of delays. County officials say finishing this phase should ease congestion, but a second, more expensive phase east toward Darrington Road still hinges on negotiations tied to the original contractor's bankruptcy, leaving full completion without a firm timeline.
   

3. Fired as mom's caretaker, El Paso woman accused of killing replacement (elpasotimes.com) — El Paso police have arrested a 35-year-old woman on a murder charge after another woman was fatally stabbed at the Patriot Palms apartments in Northeast El Paso, according to court records. Investigators say the victim had recently become caretaker for the suspect's mother, replacing the suspect, and multiple witnesses, surveillance video and a blood trail led officers to the arrest. The suspect is jailed without bond as the victim's family seeks help with funeral costs.
   

4. New CF Foundation accreditation brings specialized cystic fibrosis care to El Paso kids (cbs4local.com) — Families of children with cystic fibrosis in El Paso now have an accredited Cystic Fibrosis Foundation center at El Paso Children's Hospital, eliminating many long trips to Albuquerque or Dallas. Doctors say the new designation expands specialized lung and digestive care, boosts research focused on Hispanic patients, and could eventually grow into a comprehensive center serving both children and adults from across the Borderland.
   

5. Second Sun Metro Bus Crash in Northeast El Paso (kvia.com) — El Paso Police say a Sun Metro bus rolled onto its side after colliding with a sedan near Gateway Boulevard South and Loop 375 at Transmountain in Northeast El Paso. One person suffered minor injuries, and the city reports a backup bus quickly continued the route while officials investigate, urging drivers to slow down and stay alert around buses.
