Fort Worth Police Release Fugitive Unit Statistics

The Fort Worth Police Department just released statistics from its partnership with the United States Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force Delta Team.

The department released the statistics in a July 2 social media post.

According to the post, from Feb. 20-June 20, the department, in partnership with the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force Delta Team, closed over 226 violent felony fugitive cases by arrest.

Twenty of those individuals are facing murder charges.

Since January, the task force and department partnership resulted in the clearing of 402 violent warrants by arrest, including over 40 fugitives arrested for murder.

The task force team is made up of deputy marshals, officers from the Fort Worth Police Department, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

"This team works hard every day to remove dangerous individuals from our streets and make Fort Worth a safer place for everyone," the post states.

Last month, the department investigated two separate shootings that occurred on June 6 and June 12. The first shooting occurred in the area of 5310 E. Rosedale St. during the Stop 6 Day celebration in front of Smokey's Food Mart.

The second shooting occurred on Prickly Pine Trail in the Sycamore Landing neighborhood. In that case, two individuals walked up to a residence and shot into the home while people were inside.
