• 7Brew Drive-Thru Hearings (helotes-tx.gov) — Helotes residents will soon have a chance to weigh in on a proposed 7Brew drive‑thru coffee shop at 12405 Bandera Road, where Sonic currently operates. The Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing May 5, followed by a City Council hearing May 14, both at City Hall. Neighbors can review the permit materials and sign up to speak or stream the meetings online. 
• Porky J's BBQ in San Antonio area hints at future after fire (mysanantonio.com) — A gas fire early Thursday caused minor damage at Porky J’s BBQ & Southern Kitchen on Bandera Road in Helotes, but no injuries were reported. Sprinklers and firefighters quickly contained the blaze, and the owner says they aim to reopen for dinner or within the next few days. The family-run spot also operates a second location on Tezel Road in San Antonio.
