📰 News we're reading
• 'It was a surprise to me': City of Houston's garbage fee subject to state sales tax (abc13.com) — Houston's new $5 monthly garbage fee will actually bring in less money than expected because it's subject to state sales tax, affecting what Houston Heights residents ultimately pay for trash service. City council members say they were surprised by the tax and now hope to convince state officials the fee should be exempt so more revenue reaches solid waste operations.
