Hays County Appraisal District releases 2026 preliminary appraised values (haysfreepress.com) — If you own property in Kyle or elsewhere in Hays County, your 2026 appraisal notices are being mailed and you have until May 15 or 30 days from mailing to file a protest. You can protest online or by mailing or delivering forms to the Hays Central Appraisal District office on I-35 in Kyle, where rising countywide values may impact your future tax bill.

Hill Country Rescue & Recovery to launch microchip scanning stations in Hays County (haysfreepress.com) — Kyle pet owners could soon have an easier way to reunite with lost animals, as Hill Country Rescue & Recovery plans microchip scanning stations at Kyle fire stations and other Hays County sites starting in May. The donation-funded project aims to cut shelter intake, protect owner privacy, and give residents a simple option to scan found pets and quickly connect them with their families.
