• This tiny Texas town is hosting its 73rd annual watermelon festival this June—and it is just 2 hours from Houston (secrethouston.com) — Luling is gearing up to welcome thousands of visitors for the 73rd annual Watermelon Thump, running June 25–28 in downtown at 421 E Davis St. Locals can enjoy free grounds admission, classic seed-spitting and melon-eating contests, agricultural exhibits, markets, and multiple music stages, with ticketed concerts featuring acts like Los Rieleros del Norte and Ole 60.
