• Police investigating after more than 20 dogs found abandoned in Mission home (krgv.com) — Mission police are investigating an animal cruelty case after more than 20 dogs, including newborn puppies, were discovered abandoned at a home on the 800 block of Erma Avenue. Mission Animal Welfare Services has already rescued 17 underweight, flea-infested dogs, though two puppies died, and officials are still trapping fearful animals while potential charges against former tenants are considered. 
• Head Start and Vanguard Academy Launch New Partnership with June 17 Family Event (texasborderbusiness.com) — Families in Mission are invited to a June 17 Meet & Greet at Vanguard Monet Elementary as Hidalgo County Head Start renames its Camarena campus to Palmview Head Start Academy and launches a new partnership with Vanguard Academy. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. in Mission, and each attending student will receive a free uniform shirt while parents learn about expanded early education options.
• Public Notice- ABC Wrecker (progresstimes.net) — A Mission-based towing company, ABC Wrecker on West Interstate 83, has issued a formal notice that a 2000 Ford F-150 in its custody must be claimed and all fees paid within 30 days. If the owner or lienholder does not act, the truck may be sold at public sale under Texas law, with storage charges accruing daily until release.
