Woofie’s of North Austin Celebrates Grand Opening at Barktoberfest

Newlyweds and long-term local residents open Woofie’s in North Austin/Cedar Park, offering premium mobile pet care
Woofie’s of North Austin will celebrate the launch of its premier mobile pet grooming, dog walking, and pet sitting services in the Austin and Cedar Park areas, at the Barktoberfest Festival, Saturday, October 17th, 9:30am-2pm at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Cedar Park.
Woofie’s of North Austin soft-launched six months ago with owners, newlyweds and long-term residents, Cody and Mia Erickson (the latter also Chief Barketing Officer) at the helm. Cody comes from a background in business marketing and development, while Mia’s career has focused on healthcare and client relations. They are joined by General Manager, and Lead Groomer, Sunni Scalici, who has 20+ years’ experience in the pet industry, as a vet technician, dog groomer and handler, with appearances and awards at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. In addition to her experience driving a focus on detail, Sunni and team also put a major emphasis on fear-free handling techniques (reducing fear, anxiety, and stress) for pets. They are also accompanied by a team of tenured professional dog walkers, sitters and pet groomers, and are connected to Pet Vet Connection for veterinary telehealth, to give pet owners added peace of mind. The Woofie’s® mobile app allows pet parents to schedule services, track walks via GPS, and receive real-time updates.
Cody and Mia were drawn to Woofie’s because of their desire to offer premier, professional mobile pet care and their genuine love for pets. They recently rescued Sullivan, a lab-pointer mix, upon finding him wandering near Mia’s work, after losing their beloved Boxer Hank last year. General Manager Sunni is dog mom to Australian Shepherd, Pyxxl, who has ranked #1 in the Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) for three years. Sunni’s show-ring expertise informs her approach at Woofie’s, which leans toward traditional show grooming while emphasizing overall coat health.
“We know first-hand the love pet owners have for their beloved pets, and their need for reliable, personalized, premium care for furry family members," says Cody Erickson. “Austin is a special place with a strong sense of community, and we take pride in being part of it, serving our neighbors, and going the extra mile in caring for pets and their owners.”
“Our hope with every stage of engagement is to create a real connection, one that fosters trust and demonstrates our attention and care for each pet’s unique needs,” says Sunni. “Our mobile pet spa allows for a relaxed, one-on-one environment that helps to minimize noise and distractions of a traditional salon. Using gentle, low-stress and soothing handling techniques, and positive reinforcement, our main goal is to make the groom enjoyable for the dog and convenient for their owners.”
As owner of Woofie’s, Cody is no stranger to giving back to the community; for the past two years he has raised about $24K for ALS, as a Committee Member and participant in the Ride to Defeat ALS Texas, in honor of his late father. The Woofie’s of North Austin team also volunteers every month with the Central Texas SPCA, and will also be participating at its Barktoberfest 5k fundraiser on October 24th.
To celebrate their grand opening at Barktoberfest Festival, Woofie’s will offer a 10% discount for services booked on-site, an opportunity to enter for a chance to win a raffle basket filled with dog goodies and other local vendors valued at $500, a chance to spin the wheel for Woofie’s swag, free dog treats and pup cups, while supplies last. The Woofie’s mobile grooming spa will also be on-site in the parking lot with a limited menu of services available for purchase.
