3. San Antonio police increase patrols amid rise in downtown shootings (kens5.com) — San Antonio police have stepped up patrols downtown after four shootings near Hemisfair and Civic Park in the past 90 days, including a deadly incident by the Tower of the Americas. Officers are increasing bike and directive patrols, partnering with BCSO's gang unit, and supporting new parking restrictions, while urging residents and visitors to keep reporting suspicious activity.
   

4. UTSA Bold Promise students to get help with housing, meals through new Najim donation (star-telegram.com) — San Antonio students in UTSA's Bold Promise program will soon get extra help covering rent, food, transportation, and textbooks thanks to a new $5 million gift from philanthropist Harvey Najim. The Harvey Najim Bold Promise Scholarship will provide $500,000 annually for a decade to eligible Bexar County–area students, building on his long record of support for UTSA and Alamo Colleges.
   

5. San Antonio's August home sales outperformed state and national averages (tspantx.com) — If you're buying or selling in San Antonio, August brought encouraging news: local home sales rose 4% over last year while the median price held steady around $299,000. With nearly six months of inventory and homes sitting longer on the market, buyers have more options and negotiating room, even as most sellers still receive close to their asking price.
