• Mexican national sentenced to 27 years for meth trafficking in Texas (kdhnews.com) — A major federal drug case tied to the Eastern District of Texas was announced out of Sherman, where a man received 27 years in prison for meth trafficking. Investigators say he helped bring liquid meth from Mexico, finish processing it in Texas, and distribute large quantities across the region, with multiple North Texas law enforcement agencies assisting the case.
   

• UA Board selects McDowell as new ASMSA director (hotsr.com) — Sherman gets a brief nod in regional education news, as one of the finalists passed over for a top Arkansas school post works at Austin College here. The University of Arkansas Board instead chose Texas educator Derek McDowell to lead the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts starting July 1.
