📰 News we're reading

• Questions remain about mysterious explosion reported northwest of Uvalde on Highway 55 (uvaldehesperian.com) — Residents and officials in Uvalde are still seeking answers about a loud overnight explosion and fire reported about seven miles northwest of town along Highway 55 earlier this month. Questions raised at the Uvalde County Commissioners Court meeting focused on burn-ban violations, emergency access to private property, and whether local authorities are fully investigating what happened.

• 3 finalists for Sioux City Schools superintendent position include Miller, Pickens & Vanderloo (kwit.org) — A key finalist for Sioux City’s next school superintendent is Tim Miller, who recently led fundraising to build Legacy Elementary School in Uvalde, replacing Robb Elementary after the 2022 shooting. His experience guiding Uvalde’s long-term recovery is being weighed alongside two other candidates, with public forums and a final hiring decision expected in late April and early May.
